about us

excurs: the group

The study group includes around 70 planners from all over northern Germany who would like to receive further professional training. We are interested in innovative and groundbreaking projects in the areas of urban development, architecture, transport and open space planning.

We conduct an annual excursion for professional training.
Since 1987, we have visited a large number of cities and regions in Europe and have been able to incorporate the experiences from these trips into our professional work.

our goals

• Exchange experiences with specialist colleagues abroad
• Sharing and expanding expertise
• Expand the design repertoire through inspection of completed projects
• Critically reflect on German planning practice in comparison with foreign procedures
• Form and maintain professional networks in Europe

our members

Our members are experts in the areas of architecture, urban development, regional planning, land conservation, transport planning and design. They work or have worked in administrations, institutions and independent offices. Some members are retired but still active in the field. They are able to past their valuable experience to other attendees.

organization

Up to 30 people take part in the excursions. We prefer a train or an individually booked bus as a means of transport. A project team from the study group puts together the program, establishes contacts with local experts, and organizes city or building tours and excursions. The group also takes care of travel and overnight stays. We welcome the support of colleagues at the destinations in planning the content of the excursion.
